Pure Stock Rules for 2009

1. Raceceivers will be mandatory in 2009.  You can purchase them from Race Ready at 1-888-658-8481 or www.getraceready.com. Tell them you are with Outlaw Motor Speedway in Oklahoma, you will get a discount. 

2. Three Wins - Any driver that wins three races within one racing season will be required to pull a head for inspection

3. Any American made full body rear wheel drive passenger car or pick-up. Must be full frame or unibody with factory steel body. Must be 108” wheelbase minimum. 
a. Ford and Chrysler products ok with NO fifth arm.101” Wheel base minimum. Must have four link suspension in stock location. NO FIFTH ARM ALLOWED PERIOD. No Panhard bars. 
b. Unibody cars must tie front frame to the rear frame. Single tube only. 

4. All glass, chrome, and flammable material MUST be removed. Dash may be removed. 

5.  Front and rear firewall MUST be completely closed off from trunk area and engine compartment. 

6. Roll Cage must consist of continuous hoops, Minimum 1.50” O.D. tubing with wall thickness of at least .095” for main cage, low carbon or mild steel recommended. Minimum of 6 point roll cage required. Minimum of 3 door bars welded to OEM frame on both sides. 

7. Body and floor pan MUST remain completely stock. Except to cut out fenders for tire clearance. No Aluminum bodies. Steel door skins ok, must look stock. Removing plastic inner fender ok on front ONLY. Radiator support must remain in stock location.

8. After market stock replacement noses are ok. No dirt style allowed. 

9. May remove all unneeded components in the engine compartment. (Heater cores, A/C, brackets and compressors). 

10. Suspension must remain completely stock. Racing springs are allowed. Max 13” springs. Spring bucket allowed but must be in stock location. Racing shocks allowed in stock location. No Hiemend shocks. 

11. All Pure Stocks must weigh at least 3200 lbs. after race with driver. 

12. Racing fuel cell mandatory with a can and must be secured in the trunk area. See General Rules for mounting information. 

13. Must have aluminum racing seat with five-safety harness. 

14.  IMCA stamped take offs or asphalt take offs tires (8” Tires). 8” maximum steel wheel offset wheels ok. Grooving ok. 

15. 9” Ford allowed. 5 degree pinion angle max. NO grand national or quick change rear ends allowed. Must run stock OEM brakes. May run OEM 4 wheel disc brakes. NO aftermarket parts allowed. If it is modified it is not OEM and will not be allowed. 

16. May lock rear-end, welding or steel spools only. No Aluminum. 

17. Steering column may be changed.. No quick steers. No sweet pumps or aftermarket steering pumps.

18. Engine maximum cubic inch no high performance equipment GM 360, (350 block 3.48 stroke) Ford 361 (351W block with 3.5 stroke) Mopar 370 (360 block 3.4 stroke) NO Stroker Motors. No Roller Cams ALLOWED.  Hydraulic Cams ONLY. Flat or Dish pistons only. NO DOME PISTONS.

19.  Must run OEM camshafts, with stock lift of .283 at Lobe. No aftermarket cams allowed. These will be checked at the pushrod. Stamped Steel arms only. 1.6 rocker ratio MAX.

20.  Stock cast iron QJ 4 barrel manifold with QJ carburetor 650 Holley or 650 spread bore Holley carburetors maximum or 4412 2-barrel Holley Carburetor .NO DOUBLE PUMPERS! Must remain stock, complete with choke. Maximum 1” adaptor plate for Holley carburetor only.  NO DUEL LINES ALLOWED 

21.  Must use OEM type distributor, mechanical timing advance must be in working order. Vacuum advance optional. No super coils. 

22.  Aluminum radiators ok. Aluminum water pumps and crank pulley ok. 

23.  Must run stock cast iron exhaust manifolds with 2” maximum tailpipes extending past the drivers compartment. Mufflers optional. No type of Ram Horn manifolds.  No LT 1 Manifolds.

24. No Vortec or Closed Chamber heads. No fuel injected or high-speed performance heads. No double hump or power pack heads. No 041 casting heads. Fords must run casting number D7 or newer heads. No SVO or Closed Chamber heads allowed. NO porting or grinding of any kind. Stock type Z28 valve springs. 

25.  Pump gas or Racing fuel only. No additives or alcohol. 

26. Transmission must remain completely stock. Standard must have all working gears and stock OEM clutch, flywheel and pressure plate. Cast iron bell housing or explosion proof bell housing Highly recommended. No aluminum or corvette components. Automatics must have all working gears with OEM working torque converter. No Converters smaller than 11”.  Stock OEM Type flywheel, 20lb minimum.

27. External transmission oil cooler ok. Must be mounted in front of radiator. 

28. Drive shaft must be painted white with car number on it. Must have front drive shaft safety loop located 10” from tail shaft of transmission. Made of 2” x  ¼ “ strap. 

29. NO independent or air bag suspension cars allowed. 

30. Each car MUST have tow hooks on FRONT AND REAR!

31. Please refer to General Rules for Safety information and Fuel Cell information. 

32. FINAL NOTES: Drivers, if it does NOT say it, that doesn't mean you can do it. Call OMS TECH before you do anything to your cars that might be questionable. .OEM does not mean HIGH PERFORMANCE. If you cannot find the OEM parts at your local parts store, then chances are you cannot run it.
